Film Photography Workshop with Synergy Film Co

I’m sure you’ve probably been seeing film photography popping up everywhere and maybe you’ve been wondering what’s the big deal with film? There’s just something about this medium that digital photography just can’t capture and we are totally head over heels for this form of photography.


We are super excited to announce that we will be having an introductory Film Photography Masterclass, coming at the end of October. Spanning 3 days from 25th of October to the 27th of October this trio of hands on and in depth classes are an excellent way for you to dive into the world of film photography if it’s been something you’ve always wanted to try or if it’s something you’ve been experimenting with on the side. These classes will be guided by fellow film photographer, Justin Sim, coming all the way out from Singapore. Having been shooting film himself for the past 5 years, Justin has an incredible set of knowledge and will be able to guide you through the basic fundamentals to get you going on your photography journey.


Day 1: Guide to Film Photography
Friday: 5:00PM - 8:00PM 

- History and how it has transformed into the current trend it has led to. (Understanding the current market trends in film) 

- Differences between shooting film and digital (Next time someone asks you this, you know how to explain to them).

- How to start getting into film, what are the key points you need to look into before getting yourself equipped with a set-up. (Buying guide, equipment guide) 

- Why is it the best time to shoot film now, how to get into the trend and formulate your own story and branding online. (How to establish your name in the market)

Day 2: Hands-on approach to Film 
Saturday: 12:00PM - 3:00PM 

- Fundamentals on approaching film, example: how to properly load your film, what type of films works best to your desired results.

- Whats the most economical way to shoot film, how to safe safe safe. (I will share with you all the tips and tricks, ways to safe and get the most out from shooting film)

- Type of films in the market, understanding them and steps on how to approach with the correct settings to get the best results. 

- Experimentation with Film. (What are the possible options out there to take your film photography to the next level) 

- How to properly maintain your equipment, what to look out for and how to keep your gears and film in the best possible condition possible.


Day 3: Street Photowalk during Deepavali (6 hours session
Sunday: 12:00PM - 6:00PM (Dinner together afterwards)

In this session we'll explore not only the basic fundamentals into film photography but also explore the benefits and limitations of shooting film. We will be shooting with 35mm film cameras, you will be guided on how to properly handle your gears and be taught how to get the best possible results with each frame. We’ll be shooting on the streets and there will be plenty of tips and tricks I will teach you on how to achieve certain shots. 

During these 6 hours, Justin will be sure to answer and questions each participants have, any doubts and how to overcome them. This session will be a 100% practical session.  

- There will be a 3 hour session where members will explore the area, capture the best shots from the knowledge they have acquired. The best photos that match the theme of the shoot will be selected after the shoot. The winner of the photo competition will win themselves a brand new compact film camera + Battery + 3 rolls of film (value of SG$250). 


*In general, most people should be equipped with a film camera, I can also teach fundamentals on digital if there are those without a film camera. 

*A roll of film will be provided to each participant, upon completion of the shootProcessing and scanning of roll with high-res tiff files via wetransfer/dropbox will be provided to each participant. Cost is factored into the entire workshop fees. (value of SG$25)

Watercolour Dessert with Silver Yang

We’re finally bringing back watercolour classes to our studio and we’re so happy to have Silver Yang come and teach us how to illustrate and paint some delicious desserts.


In this workshop, you will explore the fundamental techniques and essence of watercolour painting with watercolorist Silver Yang, and bring home a beautiful piece of dessert artwork!

This workshop is suitable for ages 15 years old and above. The price includes the following: one pointed round watercolour brush, a palette, a watercolour paint set for the dessert, 300gsm watercolour paper), and a water container.

* please bring your own pencil and eraser.

Introduction to Copperplate Calligraphy August 2019

Calligraphy is both beautiful to look at and relaxing to write. However you may feel differently if you've been wanting to learn this letterform yet have no idea where to begin! This month our dear Pui Yee, of @owlandquill will be debuting her Copperplate Calligraphy class and it is definitely one you won’t want to miss.

Let Pui Yee take you through the basics and fundamentals of calligraphy--breaking down the strokes and letters and teaching you how to form words too! Copperplate, the more traditional and stricter big brother of Modern Calligraphy is such a beautiful script.

Semi-Realistic Tulip Watercolour Workshop with angellargada

This year we wanted to bring you more watercolour classes and we’re so excited to announce that @angellargada will be coming to our studio to teach a semi-realistic Tulip watercolour workshop. If this is something you’ve always wanted to give a try or have always wanted to start painting with watercolour, this is definitely a class you’d want to attend.


A self-taught artist, Onna Ariya, boasts a deep knowledge and passion for all things watercolour. You are in for a treat with this class as she will teach you the basics of colour mixing and blending, sketching and then how to draw and paint tulips.

Introducing #shareseries a collection of meet ups that we hope will be a way to enhance your creative journey, both artistically and community-wise, where it will be a space for like-minded people to come together and share in areas that they love.

This first instalment, we are having @cforcoffeee and @sarahlimcreates come and share about their journey with journaling, their top 5 essential things that they need whenever journaling and any tips and advice about journaling that they may have.

Having significantly different styles of journaling, cforcoffee is more drawing and art based whereas sarahlimcreates focuses more on writing and calligraphy, you will be able to have a peek into their minds and see journaling from their perspective.

Cute Character Doodle Workshop with Qiara Teor

Known for her super cute yet whimsical style of drawing characters, Qiara Teor, is no stranger in the art community. With a recent art exhibition and launch of her new Sketchbook Girls stickers, Qiara is making headway in this industry.


Come along and learn the basics and background of how to create your own incredibly cute characters. Qiara will go over the basics of line drawing, sketching, outlining and colouring in your creations with watercolour and brush pens. This is a class you won’t want to miss if you’ve always wanted to learn a new hobby or improve your current drawing level.
